what's the difference of ring chain, plate chain, belt type bucket elevator?

1. Ring chain’s structure and manufacture is simpler, the connection with the hopper is very firm, when conveying grinding material, the chain wear and tear is small, but the self weight is big.

2. Plate chain structure is relatively firm, self weight is lighter, which is suitable for a large handle capacity of bucket elevator.

3. Belt structure is simple, but it is not suitable for transporting big grinding material, ordinary rubber can bear material with temperature less than 60 , allowed material temperature of steel wire can be up to 80 , allowed material temperature of heat-resisting rubber belt can be up to 120 , allowed material temperature of the ring chain, plate chain can be reach 250 .


Bucket elevator is the most widely used equipment in the production , correct understanding the bucket elevator effect and knowledge, will attain the result with half effort, the most common used bucket elevator type includes belt type (TD) and ring chain(TH ) .When used for transporting bulk cement, deep type bucket is mostly used. Such as TD type belt bucket elevator adopts centrifugal unloading or mixed discharge, which is suitable for powdery and granular materials bulk density less than 1.5 t/m3.TH ring chain bucket elevator adopts mixed or gravity discharge for conveying powdery and granular materials with bulk density less than 1.5 t/m³.

Bucket elevators design considerations

Bucket elevator is widely used in many industries, the bucket elevator model selection is very important. What notices should we pay attention to during the selection of the model? Please check the following :
1.In general, the types of bucket elevator belt are ordinary or heat- resistant steel cord belt. Ordinary steel cord belt is suitable for material with temperature lower than 80 degree. Heat- resistant steel cord belt is suitable for material with temperature lower than 120 degree.
2.Considering the uneven feeding material and lump size, the allowance of the bucket elevator capacity should be sufficient.
3.The driven device support frame and maintenance platform should be installed on the head casing. Customer should state whether need the maintenance platform according to requirement.
4.There is dust removal flange on the head part of the bucket elevator. You can connect with dust collector if the material with large amount of dust.
5.Please provide the following information for us to select model: material name, size, bulk density, temperature, moisture content, lifting height, feeding equipment name, working indoor or outdoor.
6.If the conveying material is fly ash, the bucket speed should be less than 1.3 m/s. The driven part should be specially designed.

The Application and Arrangement of Mechanized Silo

There are two kinds of Mechanized silo for bulk material: agricultural silo and industrial silo. Agricultural silo is used to store food, feed and other granular or powdered materials. While industrial silo is to store coke, cement, salt, sugar and other bulk materials.
The discharging hopper is always installed at the bottom of the mechanized silo, the upstream is equipped with conveying equipment. When loading materials, the bulk materials will be lifted by thebucket elevator and then discharged into the horizontal belt conveyor, the belt conveyor conveys the bulk material to the silo. When discharging material, the bulk materials will be discharged to the downstream through the dump hopper,then conveyed by the horizontal belt conveyor to other place.

The flat shape of silo includes square, rectangle, polygon and circular, etc. When the storage material is single species or the amount is small, independent silo or a single row layout can be adopted. When storage materials has many species, silos in groups can be arranged. The total length of the cylinder silo group is generally not more than 60 meters, the total length of the square silo group is generally not more than 40 meters. Appropriate measures should be taken when there is large silo group length or wall force and complex ground situation, such as setting a expansion joint in order to eliminate the shrinkage stress of concrete and temperature stress effects, setting a settlement joint to avoid uneven settlement influence due to huge load difference from different parts of the structure itself or the bearing capacity of foundation soil have obvious differences, setting an earthquake cracks in order to reduce earthquake damage.

Safe Installation of Bucket Elevator should to know

             As we all know bucket elevator installation is key to impact on the performance, but how  to conduct it rightly, here pk machinery will give you some advice for reference.
1. The bucket elevator must be firmly settled on a solid concrete foundation. Concrete foundation surface should be level and flat to make sure the bucket elevator can achieve vertical requirements after installation. Middle and upper casing section of a bucket elevatorshould be connected with the neighbour buildings in order to increase its stability. Firstly, install the bottom part, fix the anchor bolt, and then install the middle casing and upper casing. After finish the installation, please adjust the vertical height, upper and lower shaft should be parallel to each other, and shafts should be in the same plane. When install the bucket elevatorwith a lower height, you can connect the upper, middle and lower casing well first on the ground, and then hang the complete set vertically and fix it on the concrete foundation.

            2. After finishing the installation of casing, then install the chain and bucket. The            u-type screw which is used for connect the buckets is not only a chain                              connector but also a fixture of buckets. U-screw nuts must be tighten and                        locked securely, after the installation of chain and bucket, please adjust it to get              a proper tension. 
           3. Put an appropriate amount of oil or grease in the gearbox and bearing                            respectively, reducer should be lubricated with industrial gear oil, bearing seat                can be lubricated with calcium or sodium base grease.

Function and Installation of Asbestos Tape on Bucket Elevator

Two days ago, a bucket elevator delivered by us has already arrived in Australia, now it is in installation process on site. However, our customer is wondering about the installation position of the asbestos tape as well as the function during installation. In this article I will introduce the function and installation method of the asbestos tape.

Asbestos consists of fiber bundle, fiber bundle is consisted of fibers which are thin and long shape and separated with each other. Asbestos has the advantage property such as highly fire-resistance, electric insulation and heat-resistance. The asbestos tape is made of superior asbestos which is applied for sealing material, heat-resistant material or other asbestos products.

The bucket elevator installation requires a good sealing property. Asbestos tape is the most common sealing material for bucket elevator, with it, the materials cannot leave out, this will reduce material waste, and also it can prevent the pollution outside. The position of asbestos tape should be installed between two casing flanges as a joint, which means we should insert an asbestos tape before connect the flanges, then connect it with bolts. Bucket Elevator Holdback Problems during Operation

While using bucket elevator, sometimes there is abnormal holdback operation phenomenon during operation, do you know the reason?
In fact, during the operation of bucket elevator, sometimes there will be operation stopping inevitably due to malfunction or heavy-loading, even the breakage of link chain or belt could occur, then cause reversal. The reverse operating can cause collision of the bucket and material that remain in the bottom, this could easily cause deformation of bucket and will not function well due to severe damage. Overloading situation is easy to occur if not pay attention to feeding capacity.
Under normal circumstances, the bucket of bucket elevator will lift the material from the bottom to the discharge port which is located on top of bucket elevator and then throw out. In order to ensure the production, when designing and manufacturing equipment, manufacturers just consider that the equipment will not reverse under the non-load condition, because bucket of lower part is two more than upper part, which will be much heavier than the upper. In order to prevent the breakage of belt or link chain or reversal occur in the bucket and link chain, especially when the bucket elevator is under the overload condition, the backstop should be installed at the external of bucket elevator in order to avoid the problem of overload.

The bucket elevator holdback consists of reverse rod, revolving shaft, retracting spring and dowel pin etc. In the process of normal operation of bucket elevator, the reverse rod will be upswing after hit by the sleeve, it will fall under the action of retracting spring force, then upswing after hit by another sleeve, not affecting the normal operation of equipment. If there is reversal of bucket elevator, the dowel pin will halt the reverse rod, so it will no longer swing down, and the sleeve will also be blocked by the reverse rod, hence the whole link chain could not reverse. If there is too much material spilled inside the body of machine and fall on the reverse rod, it will cause the failure of holdback.

If there is too much materials outside the bucket elevator, it will affect the rotation axis of screw. We may see there will be stacked with material in the pit of bucket elevator on the user’s site, which will seriously affect the operation of the relevant parts of holdback.

Five Phenomenon will Lead to Bucket Elevator Dust Explosion

Bucket elevator is widely applied in industrial and agricultural production. In the process of loading materials, the buckets of bucket elevator will strike on the material at a higher speed, which causes a great friction and impulsive force on materials, and will result friction between materials. Hence, the dust material dust will be blown out. When unloading the materials, materials will be thrown from the bucket, which also cause the dust blowing out.
In order to control the dust leakage, bucket elevator works under the condition of completely sealed, the enclosed space virtually increased the risk of explosion. Although the bucket elevator is worked in a sealed condition, the casing is not very tight, the air can enter through the connector and inlet port. Therefore, there is presence of large amounts of oxygen in the internal. When there is a fire, it can generate dust explosions. Bucket elevator can create dust explosion may be due to undesirable of machine operation, where there is high possibility of creating a spark. The main reason is as follows:
(1) if particle flow contains metallic impurities, it may collide and rub with the bucket in the process of the flowing, this will create spark.
(2) if belt deviation occurs and rubs with casing, it may produce spark, so in order to prevent the sparks, it is better to use the chain bucket elevator.
(3) when buckets or screw fall off, it can produces sparks when rub with other components.
(4) when bearing overheats or belt skid for a long period, it can achieve ignition point of dust explosion.
(5) the open flames enters, igniting dust explosion etc..
